Aaron Dunn

Managing Director and Leading SMSF Industry Expert


Aaron is recognised as one of Australia’s leading Self-Managed Super Fund experts, with more than 14 years of experience providing strategic advice and direction for SMSF Trustees and industry professionals.

Aaron is a SMSF Specialist Advisor (SSA), recognised as the highest industry accreditation for SMSF professionals. He is also a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and RG146 compliant.

SMSF Blogger and Industry Leader

Aaron is the author of the well-respected SMSF industry blog, “thedunnthing”, where he shares his views and strategies regarding Self Managed Super Funds.

In February 2010, Aaron was personally invited by the Chair of the Super System Review, Mr Jeremy Cooper to meet with him and share his views regarding the Phase Three Issues Paper on Structure (inc. SMSFs).

Aaron is a regular presenter within the SMSF industry to trustees and advisors. He has presented at professional body conferences, including the SMSF Professional’s Association of Australia (SPAA) and Small Independent Super Fund’s Association (SISFA), at CPA Australia events, along with various other Dealer Group professional development days and conferences. Aaron’s skills extend across a broad range of SMSF topics and he is regularly sought for comment within the industry and media on a range of SMSF matters.

Aaron was an invited member of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) SMSF Audit Working Group for Super Simplification, which was established as a result of the Simplification of Superannuation reforms introduced by the Coalition Government in July 2007. He has also represented SPAA at ASIC Financial Services meetings.

Aaron is the current Deputy Chair of the SPAA Victorian Chapter.

Ian Glenister

Director & Legal Officer

Ian Glenister is a practising Solicitor and Principal of Glenister & Co, a boutique SMSF legal estate planning business. He was the first lawyer in Australia to become an accredited SMSF Specialist Advisor (SSA) and is a member of the Commercial and Wills & Estate Planning Divisions of the Law Institute of Victoria.

Ian’s SMSF trust deed is widely used throughout the industry (co-written with Grant Abbott) and together they were the creators of the SMSF Will and SMSF Life Will.

Ian regularly presents within the industry and to trustees on various SMSF topics and estate planning issues.

Ian is a current committee member of the SPAA Victorian Chapter.
